MEET BELTRÁn

Born in Michigan in 1990, Beltrán grew up in Santiago, Chile, where he started learning to play the violin at 8 years old. Through the kind education of a patient teacher, the violin soon became a natural part of Beltrán’s life. Beltrán graduated from the Interlochen Arts Academy in 2010 and concluded his studies at Berklee College of Music in 2014. Currently Beltrán teaches violin to students of all ages from his online studio in Chicago. He performs almost every week with Mariachi Flor de Primavera and about once a month with americana rock band Trickshooter Social Club. As soloist with the Andrew Alden Ensemble, Beltrán has taught two residencies at University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana, a clinic at the Illinois Music Educators Conference and recently performed at the Detroit Symphony for the 3rd time.

With almost 30 years of learning and 15 years as a professional educator, performer and recording artist, my teaching style focuses on sharing the lessons I’ve learned both from world-class instructors at Interlochen and Berklee College of Music as well as the life of being a working musician. Through nurturing music literacy at early stages in the violin journey, I aim for my students to enjoy increased preparedness in front of a new page of music, be that for orchestra at school or on the big stage.

There is no supreme music genre, they all hold value. My career on the violin has included Classical, Contemporary Chamber, Filmscore, Celtic, Jazz, Americana, Old-Time, Mariachi and more. To me it is important that my students understand the broad musical palette the violin exists within and I encourage my students to bring up any music they’re interested in exploring.
